CPVA MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 17, 2003

  • Attendance: Holly Steinke - WCSC, Allyson Pardee, Kay McIver, Ray Penton, Ann Schultz, Ron Schultz, Willie Johnson, Rita Joseph, Arthur Johnson, Gail Carney, Nicole Brotherton, John Irby, Lynda Spear, Nancy Phillips
  • Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Willie Johnson
  • A Motion to approve Minutes from January 20, 2003 meeting was made, seconded and voted unanimously.
  • Village Liasion’s Report given by Holly Steinke (see attached agenda dated 02/17/03). There were 3 customer requests to Parks & Rec in January for CPVA. Residents should contact Debra Staley concerning trash on unimproved lots.
  • Treasurer’s Report - Nicole Brotherton - Ending balance as of 2/15/03 was $2485.95.
  • Election Results: TWA Director, Willie Johnson - President, Kay McIver - Secretary, Allyson Pardee - Area Representatives (5) - Staci Bell, Rita Joseph, Gail Carney, Ann Schultz, Ryan Hasselmeier. RDRC members: Dawn Naquin, Ryan Hasselmeir, Wade Malone, U. R. Weathers, Ron Schultz. All officers will be installed at The Annual Meeting March 17th.
  • Consider date for Spring Social - After some discussion, a motion was made and seconded to hold the “Spring Fling” on May 17th with a rain date of May 24th. Allyson agreed to coordinate the event but needs volunteers to help in the planning, etc.
    Volunteers are needed for Spring Flea Market, April 12th. Booth spaces will be sold at Panther Creek Village Center on March 22nd. 12 Volunteers are needed for us to qualify for a share in the proceeds.
    Earth Day Celebration will be April 5th in Sterling Ridge Village Center. Volunteers are needed to help sell T-Shirts and work the Concession Stand.
  • CPVA Board Meeting March 11, 2003
  • CPVA Annual Meeting March 17, 2003 - Guest Speaker will be Joel Deretchin. Joel is Vice-President of Residential Operations,TWOC and President of TWA. Topic: Local Governance and Emergency Service Districts.
    TWA Annual Meeting March 19, 2003
  • The Woodlands Community Governance Process Committee meets monthly. The committee is composed of three representatives from five organizations that are charged with developing a process that leads to a community consensus on the future of local governance for The Woodlands. This will result in a second committee being formed.
    Scholarship Applications must be in by April 15th.
  • Issues/Concerns - Lynda Spear voiced a complaint about construction noise very early on Saturday mornings. Holly Steinke suggested she call the Sheriff’s department and explain the situation. Holly said since we are not a law-making body here in The Woodlands we must rely on the County to research and determine if the noise is above a certain number of decibels. Another resident had passed along a complaint about trash along the Pathways. A phone call was made to Parks and Recreation and they came out promptly and cleaned all the pathways in Harper’s Landing.
