CPVA MEETING MINUTES
MINUTES APPROVED
October 15, 2003, 7:30 p.m.
Attendance: Kay McIver, Nancy Phillips, Ray Penton, Staci Bell, Allyson Malone, Gail Carney, Ann Schultz, Nicole Brotherton, Melinda Anderson, Janet Reindmund, Ron Schultz, Claud Hunter, Jim McIver.
- 7:30- meeting called to order by Kay McIver, introduction of officers.
- 7:34-Introduction of new residents/resident concerns. Melinda Anderson states concern over Harper’s Landing having a bad reputation among students and parents of Sally K Ride Elementary School. Says Harper’s Landing has the reputation of being a low income, low intelligence neighborhood. Area Representative Nancy Phillips suggests that Ms. Anderson contact the CISD board. Janet Reindmund concerned with the dumpsters on West Prarie Dawn hanging out into the street to an extent that a vehicle could hit it.
- Resident suggestion is to call OSHA stating they have strict guidelines for dumpsters. Kay McIver says she will contact the builder that the dumpsters belong to.
- 7:45-Considerstation of September 15th minutes, motion made to accept minutes, motion passes and carries.
- 7:47-Treasurer’s report given by Nicole Brotherton.
- 7:49-Village Liaison’s report given by Holly Steinke.
- 7:57- Discussion of committees. Nominations of Committee chairs were as followed:
- Audit Committee- Ray Penton
- Civic and residential-Ann Schultz
- Communications-Allyson Malone
- Social Committee-Nancy Phillips
- Scholarship Committee-Gail Carney
- Nominations were individually voted on, passed and carried.
- 8:08- Motion made to remove cookbook discussion from table. Motion passes and carries. Allyson states concern with how the cookbook situation has been handled most especially the flyer that was handed out to the residents of College Park stating a book price and where proceeds will be directed. Gail Carney also states her concern about the cookbook and flyers saying the flyers should never have been handed out without board approval.
- 8:13-Motion made to again table cookbook discussion, motion passes and carries.
- 8:15-Holiday Lighting Contest. Motion made to form a committee for the lighting contest that will be judging best home and best neighborhood. Motion passes and carries.
- 8:20-Motion made to have a booth at the Cochran’s Crossing Wildflower festival, motion passes and carries.
- 8:22-Registered letter from residents of Murmuring Creek Place regarding their neighbors. Says there have been noise complaints and threatening going on among a few neighbors, residents state they are concerned for the safety of their children pets and property. Holly Steinke replies that she received the same letter and has sent mediation packets to the families involved.
- 8:28-Multi Cultural Fest report, it was a great turn out, lots of fun had by all, thank you to all of our sponsors.
- 8:31-Flea Market report by Kay McIver. We had our full amount of volunteers to be eligible for some of the proceeds.
- 8:36-Board Conduct. Nancy Phillips makes a motion that we continue the board conduct discussion immediately following the adjournment of our village meeting. Motion passes and carries.
- 8:38-Claud Hunter speaks on upcoming TWA budget meeting in November and encourages residents to come and voice their opinions.
- 8:43-Resident question/concern:
- Q - Ron Schultz asks if TWA will be doing anything to compensate the villages for the rise in insurance cost as WCA is doing with their villages.
- A - Kay is still looking into this
- Janet Reindmund states concern over calling the police at 2:30pm and them not arriving until 8:30pm, when she asked why she was told redistricting problems.
- Q - Who controls the allocation of fund placement for constables?
- A - Commissioners Court
- 9:03-Meeting adjourned.
