CPVA MEETING MINUTES

MINUTES APPROVED

November 17, 2003 7:30 p.m.

  • Meeting called to order at 7:30 by Ray Penton, introduction of officers. Panther Creek Village Association has given College Park a check for $1, 215 , our share of the proceeds made from the fall flea market. College Park uses our flea market money to help fund our scholarship program. Ray Penton formally introduces himself, discusses board changes. Kay McIver has resigned from Presidency, and Ray Penton has filled her position, Gail Carney is our New Vice President. Discusses that we run our association by by-laws, and gives a brief overview as to what we do as an association, for example, resident concerns, and helping to bring those concerns to TWA. Ray also explains that the association has an executive committee made up of the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and one area representative. Village liaison’s report given by Holly Steinke Welcome new residents, Bill Glaser, Mike Norton, Brian Pennington, Leon Jordan, Ted Stanley, and Scott Fulton. Resident Comments: Would like to see more mosquito control in the newer sections of Harper’s Landing. Says they see the trucks, but they do not enter their areas. Holly Steinke says she will look into this. Residents would like to see more streetlights on Genessee Ridge, suggestions made to add that to their blue card for Holly. And , a question about a cul-de-sac that needs planting. Resident was told that TWOC will plant in the cul-de-sac once a resident from the street calls and agrees to take care of it once planted, suggests waiting until last house is built on street. Holiday Lighting Contest: We expect very good participation, and are looking for volunteers to help judge the homes. Elections: elections will be held February 14th 2004 until 6pm, with early voting available. We have an opening for Vice President, and Treasurer, both 2-year terms, and 7 area representative positions, all 1-year terms. The Residential Design and Review Committee will have 5 open positions, all 1-year terms. Audit report given by Gail Carney: We reconciled to the penny. Everything was completely in order. Treasurer’s report: Beginning balance 2485.95, with an ending balance of 1060.45. Motion made to approve the report, motion passes and carries. Social Report: participated in the Wildflower festival, plans already underway for a Spring Fling, and plans to begin working on our fourth of July float at the beginning of the year to get a head start. New Program Committee: Rita will chair, passed out brainstorming ideas for speakers, Scholarship report by Gail Carney: application is being updated for students, we are looking for well-rounded individuals, not on a "need" basis. Motion made to accept application with the option to add to it, motion passes and carries. Cookbook discussion: Item tabled for further discussion. Communication report: Website has been updated. Kay McIver’s husband is out of intensive care and would appreciate cards and or company. Civic and residential report: Willie Johnson gives a report on stoplights and streetlights. Also a right turn lane will be made at Donwick and 242. TWA report by Willie Johnson: speaks on the bulk of funding from TWA. Last year TWA gave us 2500.00 towards events, and we hope to receive the money again this year. Holly adds that paint and stencil kits can be picked up at the Community Association building for putting house numbers onto the curb.
